COVID-19 Diagnostic Testing
Texas MedClinic Urgent Care is providing COVID-19 diagnostic testing at all 19 clinics in San Antonio, Austin, New Braunfels and Spring Branch. Patients are highly-encouraged to Check-In Online to follow social distancing guidelines and avoid time in a waiting room.
Texas MedClinic is working closely with our laboratory partners in processing the COVID-19 test.
Once a patient is tested for COVID-19 at a Texas MedClinic, the specimen is sent to Quest Labs in Dallas for processing. (Texas MedClinic uses a different commercial lab than San Antonio Metropolitan Health Department.)
Due to an increased volume in the complex COVID-19 testing, the laboratory has notified health providers that their normal 48 hour turnaround for test results has increased to 7-8 days. It is reasonable to anticipate it could extend beyond 7-8 days.
Cost for evaluation and testing IS EXPECTED be covered by insurance or through government sponsored programs. For private pay patients, Texas MedClinic is charging $115 for the COVID-19 test which does not include fee for exam or additional testing that may be required. Payment is due at time of visit.
Those seeking a COVID-19 test must undergo a medical exam; the test and exam have a fee that most insurance plans cover.
