You can create your own first aid kit that stands ready to serve. Whether it’s in the bathroom, kitchen, or garage, choose any size container that fits in a space where you can access it quickly and with ease in any area of your home.
What goes into the container?
Below are the must-haves when building your home first aid kit.
- First-aid manual
- Sterile gauze pads of different sizes
- Adhesive tape
- Adhesive bandages in several sizes
- Elastic bandage
- A splint
- Antiseptic wipes
- Soap or antibacterial wash
- Antibiotic ointment
- Antiseptic solution (like hydrogen peroxide)
Hydrocortisone cream (1%) - Pain/fever reducers like acetaminophen and ibuprofen
- Tweezers
- Sharp scissors (for removing clothing or cutting adhesive tape)
- Safety pins
- Disposable instant cold packs
- Calamine lotion
- Alcohol wipes or ethyl alcohol
- Thermometer
- Plastic non-latex gloves (at least 2 pairs)
